BLASÉ
The Blasé Project is a juxtaposition of G.Simmel’s “The Metropolis and Mental Life” (1903), Michel Houellebecq’s “Extension de domain de la lutte” (1994), and life in the futuristic Shanghai GMT+8.
The project, conceived as a visual, anthropological diary and taking place in Shanghai. I invited people to pose their own 21st century versions of Blasé attitude, exposing conflicting undercurrents of media, fashion, society and space, and tracing for a brief moment the elusive identity of those supposedly global citizens.
